CDG Cares

Community

The Charlotte Destination Group takes much pride in being active in the greater Charlotte area – the community where our families live, work and play. CDG and its employees are involved in many charitable causes, community organizations and events including:

The Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation Promise Circle – A woman’s giving circle providing support financially, through fundraising events and volunteer work for local pediatric cancer patient and family support programs. CDG’s president is an active member and CDG employees are encouraged to work on Promise Circle fundraising events on company time.

The Charlotte Chamber of Commerce – Board of Advisors level members. CDG employees volunteer on the Charlotte Chamber Annual Meeting Event Planning Committee, sit on the GreenWorks Council Board, Co-chair the Council for a Healthy Charlotte, and attend Inner City Visits, Annual Planning Retreats, Chapter Meetings, Economic Development Meetings and Quarterly Board Meetings.

Friends Underwriting Economic Development (F.U.E.D.)/Charlotte Regional Partnership Annual Golf Tournament – Committee members assist in organizing an annual Charity Golf Tournament to raise money for Economic Development Scholarships in our 16-county region.

CDG employees support and attend Hospitality Industry events including those organized by the Charlotte Area Greater Hospitality and Tourism Association, Charlotte’s Green Team, and Visit Charlotte – including “Girl’s Day Away” Fundraising Golf Outing, and participating in a “Flash Mob” dance performance as the opening act for Visit Charlotte’s annual awards event!

Sustainability
Earning the 2015 Crown Jewel Award from the International Special Events Society for “Best Green Event” says it all! CDG works to produce carbon-neutral events where all possible items are recycled or composted, décor is made from sustainable materials and vendors provide sustainable products and services. CDG prides itself on sustainability efforts on behalf of itself, its community and its clients.

CDG’s president sits on the Charlotte Chamber GreenWorks Council Board and the Events Committee. CDG is also active in the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority supported “Green Team”.

Among hundreds of events that took place during the Democratic National Convention held in Charlotte in 2012, CDG was selected to host a delegate event which was deemed one of the most sustainable events of the overall convention. CDG will be happy to share with you the details of its sustainable events and event practices.
